I’ve been drawing birds since second grade, copying images from a children's bird book. I love the graceful animation of swallows in flight. The graceful shapes of their wings and tails dance like poetic galligraphy in the air.

I’ve been fascinated by Aspen trees and their trembling leaves since I was a teenager. They thrive near water streams and rivers, and the seasonal colors paint the landscape. When I hand-cut the leaf shapes from pieces of my printmaking, it is very meditative. Each leaf is unique and individual, but they resemble each other enough to consider them the same, just like people.
